Inverter function
The inverter is a power conversion device whose main function is to convert the direct current of the battery into alternating current. Through the full-bridge circuit, the SPWM processor is generally used for modulation, filtering, boosting, etc., to obtain the load frequency, rated voltage, etc., and the matching sine wave AC power supply is provided to the end user of the system.
Inverters are classified by output waveform:
1. Square wave inverter
The AC voltage waveform output by the square wave inverter is a square wave. The inverter circuits used in this type of inverter are not exactly the same, but the common feature is that the circuit is relatively simple, the number of power switch tubes used is small, and the design power is generally between 100 watts and kilowatts. The advantages of square wave inverter are simple circuit, low price and easy maintenance. The disadvantage is that because the square wave voltage contains a large number of high-order harmonics, additional losses will be generated in the load electrical appliances with iron core inductors or transformers, which will interfere with radio and some communication equipment. In addition, this type of inverter also has shortcomings such as insufficient voltage regulation range, insufficient protection function, and relatively large noise.
2. Step wave inverter
The AC voltage waveform output by this type of inverter is a staircase wave. There are many circuits for the inverter to realize the staircase wave output, and the order of the output waveform varies greatly. The advantage of the trapezoidal wave inverter is that the output waveform is significantly improved compared with the square wave, and the high-order harmonic content is reduced. When the ladder diagram reaches 17 or more, the output waveform can reach a quasi-sine wave. When the output of the transformer is less, the efficiency of the whole machine is very high. The disadvantage is that there are many power switch tubes used in the step wave superposition line, and some line forms also require multiple sets of DC power input, which brings trouble to the grouped wiring and balanced charging of the solar cell array. In addition, the step wave voltage still has certain high frequency interference to radio and some communication equipment.
3. Sine wave inverter
The AC voltage waveform output by the sine wave inverter is a sine wave. The advantages of the sine wave inverter are that the output waveform is good, the distortion is very low, the interference to radio and communication equipment is small, and the noise is low. In addition, the sine wave inverter has complete protection functions and high overall efficiency. The disadvantage is that the circuit is more complicated, the maintenance technology is demanding, and the price is relatively expensive.
Solar panel installation without battery power as backup system
Hybrid solar inverters can work without batteries. This type of system is connected to a solar panel and a grid that is powered from both.
The energy generated by the solar panels is channeled to the house for use, they do not need to generate all the electricity to run the entire home, as the shortfall can be made up from the grid.
The advantages of installing solar without a battery backup include:
· Save electricity bills
· Lower installation costs
· Greener
· Fewer components to maintain
However, a major disadvantage is that it will not provide power during a power outage or blackout. Devices with battery backup include batteries that allow electricity to be stored for later use.
Different battery packs are of different sizes and are charged by solar panels and the grid. The advantage is that the lights stay on even during a power outage.
However, installation costs are higher and there are more components to maintain.
If you live in an area with a stable and reliable power grid, a solar installation system without a battery backup would be ideal as it will save you money.
Do you want to use solar power in your home or use an off-grid battery system?
