The basic structure of oil level gauge

The Pointer Oil Level Gauge (from now on referred to as the oil level gauge) applies to the oil level display of the Oil Immersed Transformer oil conservator and on-load tap changer oil conservator as well as the alarm of the lowest and highest limit oil level.

The oil level gauge is mainly composed of the display part consisting of a pointer and dial, the alarm part composed of the magnet (or cam) and switch, and the transmission part composed of a reversing and variable speed gear set, swing rod, and float ball.

Operating principle of oil level gauge

When the oil level of the transformer oil conservator rises or falls, the oil level gauge’s float ball or the oil conservator’s diaphragm will float up and down, making the swing rod swing up and down, thus driving the transmission part to rotate. The magnet (or cam) of the alarm part and the pointer of the display part will rotate through the coupling magnetic steel, and the information will point to the corresponding position. When the oil level rises to the highest level or drops to the lowest level, The magnet is pulled in (or the cam is pulled out), and the corresponding reed switch (or microswitch) sends out an alarm signal.
