BWR-04 series winding temperature controller for transformer (in the future referred to as winding temperature controller) is a particular instrument designed for oil-immersed power transformer and used for indirect measurement of transformer winding temperature by “thermal simulation” method.

The transformer winding temperature T1 is the sum of the top oil temperature T2 of the transformer and the temperature rise △ T of the winding to the oil, namely T1=T2+△ T. The temperature rise △ T of winding to oil is determined by the transformer winding current. The winding current is proportional to the secondary current, which is the working principle of the current transformer. The working principle of incorporating a temperature controller is to take out the current directly proportional to the load through the current transformer and input it into the electric heating element in the elastic component of the winding temperature controller after the adjustment of the converter. Flexible elements can cause additional movement due to heat dissipated by the heating element; thus, a temperature indication value of one temperature difference higher than the oil temperature is generated. The winding temperature controller uses this indirect method to obtain the average indicated value of winding temperature.
