How Does a SCR Inverter Work?

SCR inverters mainly comprise SCR devices, isolation transformers, filters, etc. Among them, the SCR device is the core part. Working principle of SCR inverter

The working principle of the SCR inverter is based on PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) control technology. Precisely, by controlling the trigger pulse width of the SCR device, the SCR conduction time is controlled, thereby controlling the size and frequency of the output voltage.

1)Generation of trigger pulse: The trigger pulse of the SCR inverter is generated by the PWM controller. The PWM controller controls the trigger pulse width of the SCR according to the amplitude and frequency of the input signal, as well as the preset pulse width.

2)SCR turn-on and turn-off: When the PWM controller generates a trigger pulse, the SCR device will turn on, allowing current to pass. When the trigger pulse ends, the SCR device turns off, and the current cannot pass. By controlling the width of the trigger pulse, the conduction time of the SCR can be controlled, thereby controlling the size and frequency of the output voltage.

3)Output filtering: Since the output voltage of the SCR inverter contains harmonic components, a filter needs to be used for filtering. The filter generally uses an LC filter, composed of an inductor and a capacitor, which can effectively filter out harmonic components and ensure the stability and quality of the output voltage.
