Last year, the power generation of natural gas and coal-fired power plants in the UK decreased by 20%, and the consumption of fossil fuels was at its lowest level since 1957.

According to a report by industry magazine Carbon Brief, natural gas power plants in the UK generated 31% of electricity last year, o 98 terawatt hours (TWh). In comparison, the remaining coal-fired power plants in the UK only produced enough electricity to meet 1% o 4 TWh of electricity demand.
