Reliable Residential Energy Storage for Areas with Frequent Power Outages

Whole-Home Backup for Outage-Prone Grids
Project Overview
- Application: Residential Solar & Storage
- Client: Regional Solar Installer
- Market: South and Southeast Asia
- Project Type: Residential Retrofit
- Product Category: Residential Energy Storage Systems → All-in-One ESS
- System Model: LN-LC YTJ-6.5A
Project Background
In regions where scheduled and unexpected power outages can last for hours, homeowners need a reliable backup power solution that keeps essential appliances running.
The installer's customers shared a common set of priorities: maintaining refrigeration, lighting, internet connectivity, and fans during outages, while also powering one air conditioner overnight during hot weather.
Most homes already had rooftop solar PV systems installed. The challenge was to integrate battery storage with the existing solar arrays while minimizing installation time, equipment changes, and on-site labor. The solution needed to fit inside a utility room and be installed by a two-person crew in a single visit.
Our Solution
We supplied the LN-LC YTJ-6.5A all-in-one energy storage system, combining a hybrid inverter and LiFePO₄ battery in a single cabinet.

Why This Configuration?
1. Storage Capacity Designed Around Household Loads
A 10.5 kWh battery provides a practical starting point for households that need to power essential appliances and one air conditioner overnight. The final backup duration depends on actual energy consumption, inverter losses, and operating conditions.
This capacity also offers a degree of flexibility for future changes in household demand, subject to a detailed load assessment.
2. All-in-One Design for Faster Installation
Integrating the inverter and battery into one cabinet simplifies system integration and commissioning. For installers working with two-person crews, this design can reduce on-site wiring complexity and help streamline installation within a single visit, depending on site conditions.
3. Compatibility with Existing Rooftop Solar
With a PV input voltage range of 60–450 V and maximum PV input power of up to 9,000 W, the system is designed to accommodate suitable existing rooftop solar arrays.
This allows installers to evaluate battery retrofits without automatically replacing the existing PV system. Actual compatibility must be verified against string voltage, current limits, connector requirements, and the inverter's electrical specifications.
Project Results
For the specified household load profile, the 10.5 kWh battery is designed to support approximately 10–12 hours of backup operation, subject to actual consumption and system efficiency.
During normal operation, the system can store solar energy generated during the day and discharge it during evening peak periods or grid outages, helping households improve energy availability and make better use of their existing rooftop PV installations.
The solution also provides a pathway for future expansion. Depending on system compatibility and the manufacturer's approved configuration, additional storage may be considered using a HYDIY floor pack, or the installation may be upgraded to the higher-capacity YTJ-6.5B 16 kWh system.
A Practical Approach to Residential Energy Resilience
By combining battery storage, hybrid inverter functionality, and compatibility with suitable existing solar arrays, the LN-LC YTJ-6.5A offers installers a practical option for residential backup projects in markets where grid reliability remains a major concern.
